Diplomas in nursing

The Pre registration diploma in nursing course is available on a full or part time basis at a number of educational institutions.

DipHE (full time)
The Pre-registration nursing diploma of higher education (DipHE) programme offers a combined professional and academic qualification.  This is achieved through a combined study of practical and theory work in nursing.

Pre-registration nursing courses are undertaken at places of higher education. As with the nursing degree courses, the Diploma programmes begin with the common foundation programme or CFP. This programme offers a overall introduction to nursing, and will strongly develop your observational, caring skills and communication. The CFP includes an introduction to the four branches of nursing as well as maternity care.

Supervised nursing practice is 50% of the programme and takes place in both hospital and community settings. The nursing diploma lasts for 3 years.

DipHE (part time)
A number of institutions offer the diploma on a part-time basis. For further information on course structure, hours of study and length of course you are advised to contact the universities offering the programmes directly.
